Happy Mother's Day!
I hope all the mothers out there have a nice, relaxing day! The picture above is from the sweet card my son made me at school. I thought I might talk today a little about my oldest.
I've called him Buddy Lee almost since birth. He had great head control as a newborn and he loved to sit on my lap and observe people. He reminded me of the Lee Jeans Buddy Lee doll and the nickname has stayed every since.
The dude is crazy! He's very much a Leo, outgoing and fearless. He will walk up to a group of 10 year olds (he's only 5) and say "Hey guys. What's going on? Do you like Bakugan?" He also has my smart mouth and devilish mind which makes me proud at times and embarrassed at others.
Buddy Lee loves vampires, zombies, mummies, ghosts, and skeletons. He has since he was very young. He makes me put on Thriller all the time and reenact the video from memory which isn't hard since that album has been one of my greatest loves since I was his age. I don't really have the heart to tell him that supernatural beings aren't really real, because I want him to think there is some magic in the world. I would prefer it to be Loch Ness or fairies, but I guess zombies are will do.
Buddy Lee is an awesome engineer of Legos. He sets out to make castles and weapons and airplanes and they really do look like them. He's not interested in recreating the pictures on the box. He alsoloves to jump right into the deep end of the pool and then stay there all day. He has nonstop energy, has since the womb. Sometimes his apelike behavior can send me over the edge, but it makes me happy to know that he truly enjoys his childhood.
Since Buddy Lee is so extroverted and I'm so introverted there are times we do have clashes. He wants to be doing things and being with people all the time and sometimes I just need a break. He also takes out all his frustration on me because he looks to me as his safe place. It is something special to me, but can still be trying. The things he'll say and do to me are not things he would ever consider doing at school or even with his Papa.
I'm very proud of his work in Kindergarten this year and it's hard to believe he's not that Buddy Lee doll on the couch just looking at the world. He's a full fledged member of it! I think Mother's Day really becomes special when your children truly want to appreciate you and take the time to make something just for you.
Thanks for reading today! I hope your day is just as special.
